What is revelation?

Revelation is the understanding or enlightenment of the heart, which can only be given to us by the person of the Holy Spirit.

Revelation is the unlocking of our understanding so that we can grasp and grow into all that we have already received in Yeshua.

The Holy Spirit will give us revelation as a key to enter into a new doorway within the Kingdom realm and find the 'hidden treasures contained in dark places'.

'I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name'. (Isaiah 45:3).
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3).

Scripturally speaking, revelation is light and darkness is a lack of revelation.

Even in Genesis 1, when YHVH spoke light into being, He wasn't creating visible light, but rather releasing the revelation of His Son into being and creating heavenly beings. An angel is a messenger or a carrier of revelation. There are different roles and functions of angels but every time an angel is released, revelation of the plans, purposes or heart of YHVH will be released as well.

Why receive revelation?

Receiving revelation is the process of becoming who you're called to be in Christ. It unlocks the potential and possibility for all of mankind to mature and grow, going from strength to strength and glory to glory.

Without revelation, you will stagnate in your walk with YHVH. You will experience a big gap between intellectual knowledge and heart experience. Where revelation is flowing and running over, the religious spirit will cease to operate. If you know more about God than know him personally, even if the word of God becomes something you can quote continually but if there is a lack of fruit within your own life, the reason will be because of a lack of revelation.

Without revelation it is easy to enter into frustration, and where there is frustration there is a lack of the knowledge of the truth that sets you free.

The reality of what Jesus has done is glorious and even the reality of the world around us, from His perspective. Yet without revelation, we can only see through blind eyes, which means we will not enter into the Kingdom and taste of its abundance.

What I mean by that is simple. The Holy Spirit has been given. He has been released upon humanity and poured upon us all, if we are willing to confess Jesus. Yes there is a baptism in the Spirit and yet Pentecost was the full release of the Holy Spirit. The issue is not on YHVH's part but on our lack of understanding (or lack of revelation) which is causing us to live in little and live in lack instead of the abundance of the Kingdom, which is fully available to us all. The issue is we haven't been taught how to live by revelation because the religious system seeks to control rather than liberate.

The power of revelation

Revelation unlocks the door to destiny and brings you into abundance. Revelation always precedes resurrection. When we cherish revelations from the Holy Spirit, it could be an encounter with the goodness of God through the word, as you learn to keep these things within you, they become a source of strength for your inner-man.

Revelation also brings transformation, by it we are brought from our old man experience and into our new creation reality. As we persist in receiving revelation, we encounter more and more liberty and freedom as the awareness of Christ within us and around us begins to increase.

Important note: He isn't increasing but our awareness is as we are entering further into the truth of what Jesus has already done through the cross.

How do we access revelation?

Simple answer: the Holy Spirit.

The role of the Holy Spirit is to reveal Jesus. You will not find anyone more equipped for such a task.

Key scriptures:

  • John 14: 15-21 (emphasis mine).

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

  • John 16:12-15 (emphasis mine)

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

Revelation is not something that you can walk into by force, by the flesh, but rather it is received by faith.

As your faith begins to grow in the awareness of the Holy Spirit who is within you and around you always, you are equipped to be able to draw from the wellspring of life at all times wherever you find yourself. Everyday, every circumstance and situation becomes an opportunity to enter into deeper realms of understanding, the understanding of who you are, who He is and who you have been created for, what your role and function is within the Earth.

Revelation is a gift from the Father to those who have fully given their hearts to him.

The process of receiving from revelation is the same as the process of becoming a follower of Jesus... you receive what He has freely given. Therefore you don't try to earn it based upon your performance. That being said, revelation does not come to those who are not fully invested in the Gospel and who are walking after Christ with their whole heart.

'For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him' (NIV) / 'For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him' (NKJV). (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Why eyes?

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (Revelation 5:6)

The Spirit of Revelation, one of the Seven Spirits of YHVH, will rest upon you to teach you and guide you on the process of maturity, as you fully devote yourself to Christ.

The Spirit of Revelation works in partnership with the Spirit of Wisdom.

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding (revelation), the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord— and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.

Revelation takes the truth and applies it to your life so that you can see who the Father is and enter into a deeper realm of knowing Him, personally. Revelation occurs when you are in the heart posture of seeking the Lord. When you open your heart to that hunger and longing and begin to actively engage with it, there is a frequency that is released from within you which makes space for the Spirit of Revelation (Understanding) to enter into you and impart life to your mortal body. It is this process that causes you to change as you no longer retain the old man, but rather the new grows within you as all that you are becomes filled, slowly but surely, with all that He is. There is no need to fear in this process because fear will actually stop the flow of revelation from taking place within you and you will start to try to work from the outside-in, rather than the inside-out. In truth, when you are living in this capacity, revelation will not be given to you, because you lack the maturity to receive it. It is like giving meat to infants. There is no need to until they grow to the point of being able to appreciate what Revelation is wanting to reveal. This is where Wisdom is vital in order to fully encounter and access the depths of the Father, for Wisdom causes a son to enter into the process of maturity by making known the reality of the Father's Kingdom and His Heart, which is to bring sons to a position where they can not simply access Him but relate to Him, face-to-face. This growing up process cannot happen without the Seven Spirits. You can begin to receive revelation but without growing in Wisdom, you will cause what you have received to fall to the ground and you will not appreciate it, or have the correct lens in order to apply it to your life and walk in the fullness of it. Therefore, ask the Father and He will give you the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in order to know Him more deeply. His heart is for all men to mature to the point where they are able to take hold of the mysteries of the Kingdom and explain them in love to others, simplifying them to share with those who have not yet had the understanding of their hearts expanded.

Revelation flows from the internal position rest

As you follow Christ personally, He will lead you into green pastures and beside still waters and here He will restore you. Receiving revelation is the process of restoration and it begins when we choose to end; end from our own efforts and self-action to try and inherit things from Abba, Father and instead, simply learn the beauty of being.

There are many, many more things that can be said and this is truly just a taster of more to come.

The final key is to simply ask the Father...

'If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”' (Luke 11:13)

Persist and you will not be disappointed.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:15-23
